4 Must-Do Winter Activities in Sayner-Star Lake-Cloverland
Sayner-Star Lake-Cloverland is loaded with activities to keep you entertained on your next winter getaway to the Northwoods. You can easily dedicate an entire week to the fun ahead! Here are four must-do activities:
1. Snowmobiling
Sayner-Star Lake-Cloverland is home to nearly 80 miles of groomed snowmobile trails maintained by the Sayner-Star Lake Barnstormers. Experience an exciting ride through the wooded landscape of the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest taking you over lakes and past wildlife. Our trails link to neighboring communities with plenty of places for a pit-stop along the way!
2. Ice Fishing
Bring your jig poles and drop a line in one of our crystal clear lakes. The Sayner-Star Lake-Cloverland area is known as a prime fishing destination in northern Wisconsin. There are dozens of lakes that are great for catching panfish, crappies, walleye and more. Nothing beats a day of fresh northern air while fishing on frozen waters! If you hit the right weekend, you can join in on one of the many ice fishing tournaments hosted by the area communities.
3. Razorback Ridges
Grab your skis and/or snowshoes and explore the popular Razorback Ridges, just two miles west of Sayner. This trail system (great for all skill levels) winds for twelve miles through lush towering pines and is groomed in the winter for cross-country skiing. There are also two loops of snowshoe trails that criss-cross the ski trails to provide an afternoon of fun and exploration of the area. A warming shelter, with restrooms, is located at the trail head to take a break and transition from skis to snowshoes.
4. Dining
Warm up after a day of exploring and grab a bite to eat at one of our dining establishments. You can find seafood dishes prepared with the finest of ingredients, a juicy burger or steak grilled to perfection, and (of course) a Northwoods fish fry! No matter where you decide to dine, you won’t leave hungry!
