Our Stories
Everyone Has a Story

Everyone has a unique story in Sayner-Star Lake. If you ask any of our friendly business owners how they found themselves in the Northwoods, you’ll find that some have been here for generations - - most certainly, all will tell their story with pride.

Here are our stories!

Camp Edna

We’ve been coming to the area for 15-20 years and have finally found the perfect spot in Camp Edna. We love it and want to share our Camp with others.

– Mark Skorlich

Hillside Tavern & Grill

Our family has had land here since the 1930’s! Generations have grown up coming here to spend summers by the lake, and enjoy various recreations the Northwoods has to offer year round. This beautiful place has been our sanctuary, and are so grateful to call it home now.

– Archille Orlowski

Plum Lake Quilts

Don and Pat Anderson, owners of Plum Lake Quilts, live in Sayner, WI. This is where we spend as much time as we can enjoying the beauty of the Northwoods. We simply love the area and the people.

Technautic Powersports

Hello, I’m Greg Byrns, owner of Technautic Powersports. My significant other (Amy Greenberg) & I have lived in this area most of our lives and have dreamed of raising our family here. My strong background in the repair business lead us to starting our own shop here in the Northwoods. We love the people and lifestyle of the Sayner area and wouldn’t want our life story to play out anywhere else.

The Corner Store

I’m Mary Debilzen, owner of The Corner Store. I decided to “semi-retire” to the Northwoods after spending many years of camping, biking, x-country skiing and fishing in the Northwoods. Owning and managing The Corner Store has been a great match for me in a semi-retirement position. It allows me to enjoy the Northwoods experience, meet many great like-minded people and easy myself into full retirement in an area I enjoy.

Traditions

Hello! I am Jessica Drallmeier, owner of Traditions in downtown Sayner, Wisconsin. As a child, my family always vacationed in the beautiful Northwoods! It was always my dream to live here, and be surrounded by all the beauty of the area. My family moved up in 1999, and we never looked back. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. I count my blessings everyday that I am part of the Sayner-Star Lake community!

White Birch Village Resort

Hi! We are John and Sue Altschwager, owners of White Birch Village Resort. In 1942 Sue’s grandparents found this wonderful vacation place called Wilsie’s White Birch Lodge in Star Lake, WI. Our family hasn’t missed a summer here since then. In the fall of 1981 Sue’s parents had the opportunity to purchase the resort and they reopened the doors in 1982. We believe in the memories that are made in the Northwoods so much, we took over the resort in 2006. It’s a joy to continue the traditions that started here in 1942.
