When are the state campgrounds opening?
Please visit the Wisconsin DNR’s Camping in State Parks and Forests page for updates and to make reservations. All campsites require a reservation, so make sure you are set before coming north to camp.
I’d like to have a campfire. Are there any burning restrictions?
That’s an excellent question! Conditions can change daily, so check the DNR’s burning restrictions map to see what’s currently allowed.
Is there parking near the paved bike trail?
Yes, there’s parking near the trail at the intersection of Froelich Drive and County Hwy N in Sayner as well as right off Cty Hwy N on Razorback Road. View Sayner-Star Lake’s portion of the trail.
I hear Sayner-Star Lake has great hiking. Are there maps available?
You’ve got that right! Sayner-Star Lake-Cloverland has a number of scenic hiking trails for all to enjoy. Trail maps are available at many of the Sayner-Star Lake-Cloverland businesses, are included when you order a free Visitor Guide or check out highlights of some of the favorite trails.
What’s the best lake for fishing?

Is there a golf course nearby?
You don’t have to travel far! You’ll find a beautiful and historic 9-hole golf course right in Sayner at the Plum Lake Golf Club.
Where can I find a public swimming beach?
If you’re looking for crystal clear water, a beautiful sandy beach and picnic area to spend the day, you’ll find it at Crystal Lake, about 5 miles west of Sayner, in the Crystal Lake/Big Muskellunge Lake Campground area.
